A wristband to track health, fight obesity
July 16, 2011
Jawbone‘s Up, combining a sensor-infused wristband and iPhone app, will provide “nudges” for healthier living, based on your behavior.
The wristband’s sensors collect data about how much you’ve been sleeping and moving and send it to an app. You enter meal data manually, in part by taking pictures of what you’ve eaten.
Based on that information, the app provides nudges meant to help you live healthier, day by day. For example, if you haven’t slept much, when you wake up, the app might suggest a high-protein breakfast and an extra glass of water.
Jawbone announced the new wristband July 13 at the at the TED Global conference.

while i am a fan of jawbone, i believe the Up band to be rather simple in its function and what it can accomplish.
i saw a band come out in the last month that i believe does what i would expect out of a health band and it also doubles as a watch.
its made by the company “basis” and i believe if you simply google “Basis Band” you should be able to find it.

I have suggested a smart wristband that can measure wellness via our NO- nitric oxide avaiabilty. NO controls numerous tasks in our body.
