University of Portsmouth scientists are developing fuzzy-logic-based technology that would allow CCTV cameras to “hear” violent sounds (glass breaking, gunshots, etc.) and react quickly, respond to visual cues such as fights or violent behavior, and pick up key words and phrases it associates with criminal activity.
