American Museum of Natural History | Beyond Earth: The future of space exploration

January 30, 2012

American Museum of Natural History | Beyond Planet Earth: The Future of Space Exploration (November 19, 2011 — August 12, 2012) offers a vision of the future of space travel as it boldly examines humanity’s next steps in our solar system and beyond.

See a re-creation of a lunar habitat, a model of a space elevator rising up from the surface of the Moon, and one of the world’s largest color holograms, depicting 1,000 exoplanets.

Discover missions that were once limited to the realm of science fiction but today are discussed by leading scientists and engineers: mining for rare gasses on the Moon, landing on or deflecting a potentially deadly asteroid, and traveling to Mars — perhaps even establishing colonies there.

Will humans eventually find a way to venture out beyond our solar system? Will we discover evidence of life on another planet?

Beyond Planet Earth: The Future of Space Exploration at the American Museum of Natural History opens on November 19, 2011.
