Danny Belkin, PhD
Danny Belkin received a BSc degree from Tel aviv University in 1999 and a
PhD degree from the University of Cambridge, UK, in 2003.
He was born in 1973 in Jerusalem, and spent his childhood in
Israel, except for three formative years in San Francisco. His
parents had always urged him to pursue his dreams (and always
look both ways before crossing the street as well as make sure
the dog is taken for a walk). They contributed most to his overactive
imagination and fascination with the future by reading him the
"Star Wars" children's book as a bedtime story for two years straight,
by allowing him to stay up and watch reruns of "Battlestar Galactica"
and "Star Trek" and by never refusing him a trip to the Exploratorium
or the Science Museum. Needless to say, he became an avid science
fiction fan (a foregone conclusion when growing up in a house
full of books). Having gone through high school and majoring in
Biology, he completed three years' military service before studying
for a B.Sc. degree in Biology at Tel-Aviv University. During that
time he stumbled across the field of Programmed Cell Death research,
which sparked his interest in the subject of societal cellular
behavior, consciousness, evolution, and how these subjects relate
to humanity's future.
He is currently taking his first tentative steps in the Biotech
world.
