Charles Ames

Charles Ames studied mathematics and musical composition at Pomona College, musical history at Oxford, and composition at the State University of New York at Buffalo, where he received his Ph.D. in 1984. He is currently Director of the Kurzweil Foundation’s Automated Composition Project, which created the Cybernetic Composer, an AI based software system that composes music in a variety of popular styles. Ames is regarded as a pioneer in the application of AI to music composition.
