Chinese Could Replace English as Dominant Internet Language

December 29, 2010

An infographic posted on The NextWeb suggests that Chinese could replace English as the dominant Internet language.

English is currently number one, with 27.3 % of Internet users (537 million), while Chinese is number 2 at 22.6 % (445 million). However, total market penetration for the Internet in English-speaking countries is 42 % vs. 32.6 % for Chinese, which has more room to expand, and will become number one shortly, according to blogger Alex Wilhelm.
