This is another argument for nationalizing our internet just as Eisenhower did with the Interstate highway system in the 50′s. Both Hong Kong and South Korea have fiber-optic home internet service with a 100 to 1 better price performance than current Comcast rates. We have placed private industries in a monopoly position where they can continue to squeeze more and more revenue out of the internet which is our major conduit for commerce in the 21st century. The next generation of internet servers, at the request of private industry, will be able to detect rapidly and cost-effectively where a packet is coming from, where it is going to, and what type of data it contains — text, audio, video, phone, browser, photo etc. This will be used to nickel and dime the consumer at the expense of competitive commerce.

So what? In Japan you would get a GIGABYTE PER SECOND for only $57! UPLOAD AND DOWNLOAD. It comes with phone service too. Even the UK has prices that are twice as good as ours. America is dominated by corporations and idiot Republicans.
