CRN Calls for Global Administration of Molecular Nanotechnology

The Center for Responsible Nanotechnology (CRN) is calling for the creation of a collaborative international administrative structure to deal with the problems of molecular manufacturing.

“The threat of MNT is the potential of developing and fabricating dangerous weapons and other undesirables covertly or in large quantity,” said CRN Executive Director Mike Trager.

“This administration will need global scope, and will require careful and innovative planning to balance competing demands and diverse approaches to problem solving.

“The proper design of such a system will be extremely difficult to accomplish, and getting it implemented will be even harder. At worldwide levels, where things move slowly, this might take as long as twenty years. If advanced nanotechnology could arrive within ten or fifteen years, urgent action is called for now.”
