Crowdsourcing a TEDx at SISSA Trieste, Eric Ezechieli

May 10, 2012

“A few months ago you enthusiastically responded to my request for help, posted on KurzweilAI. Here you will find the result: a crowdsourced TEDx (probably the first of this kind). It is in Italian (recorded at SISSA in Trieste, Italy) with English voiceover translation.

“I asked the following question: ‘What are the three most important trends shaping humankind’s future in the next 10 years? Provide specific recent examples/news/Web links which exemplify each trend.'”

“Along with you, about 230 people responded in a couple of days, contributing almost 700 trends and hundreds of links. The talk explains the process, and summarizes the results.

“I did not pretend to be scientific in the talk! It was intended for a TEDx audience who knew little or nothing about exponentials, so I have simplified some messages, including labeling as ‘exponential’ trends which are not exactly corresponding to this definition within the Singularity community, and some other simplifications (such as not talking about the fact that planet Earth is indeed becoming an ‘open system’ as we open-up the space frontier). The goal was to inform, and inspire.”
