Fraunhofer COMEDD researchers have developed eye-controlled data glasses that overlay data on the real world and let you flip through pages using eye motions.

The camera sensors integrated into the OLED (organic light-emitting diode) screen track the wearer’s eye movements and an image processing program calculates the exact position of their pupils in real time.

An invisible infrared light source in the glasses frame produces accurate positioning results even in low light.

The data glasses are helpful for jobs that requires the use of both hands with simultaneous access to information..

The wearer could browse surgical planning data or construction plans, for example.

The glasses could also enable elderly and physically disabled people  to use specific eye movements to change the TV channel or attract attention in difficult situations.

The first potential customers are now experimenting with the data glasses to determine opportunities they might offer in industry, production, medicine, and security.
