ref Does existence beget itself out of the impossibility of the alternatives?
that would be the most logical explanation
a universe at odds withself would require a great deal of cosmic gaffatape

.
a universe with 3 dimensions of space and one of time has just the right goldilocks factor
a 2d universe too simple , a 4d universe probably to complex and chaotic, more than one dimension of time problematic
.
.
.
our universe of 3dimensions looks a bit like a 4dimenisonal universe with a wave ( time ) traversing along one axis
a universe with 2 space dimensions and 1 of time look like a deck of cards....time 0 being the bottom card and time now being the top card

our universe may actually be 11 dimensional, but because just 3d of space and 1 d of time are strongly interacting with each other there is a level of coherence that sustains life and existence as we know it. Dark matter and dark energy could exist on different planes or dimensions. Dark matter can only exchange gravitons, and dark energy can only expand spacial dimensions. Yes there effects are there , gravity aiding clumping, dark energy slowly increasing the expansion rate of space. But they are not totally overwhelming or totally dominating things at the physical scales or the time scales of galaxies and people.
Existence may be a near infinite amount of planes interacting with each other, some much more strongly than others. We can use maths to decide on the level of coherence and common sense of such mental models. So far maths has been doing a fairly good job. Statistically speaking virtual universes can out number real universes zillions to one. A humble pc game can considered to be a virtual universe. .....so long as the creator live in a universe with 1 or more higher dimensions and is doing the creating from there, then creating simplified universes is a trivial task.......Just as we can create a 2d flatworld universe out of a pack of cards.

Our universe isn't exactly big or even old....its measured in billions not countless gazillions.....if my desktop computer could stretch out to the 4th dimensions it would be too long before it had enough computational powe to model the entire 3d+1t universe.....if you get where im coming from.
God may exist in a 3d universe much like our own.....his cosmic computer has a 3d holographic screen.....that projection is our existence.
.

.
Indeed when you consider addition planes.....our experience ( though 3d ) is like a 2 projection on a wall , that is to say our existence really just a the shadow thrown by something more tangible ( the creator or creation itself )
KEY from our observations the universe appears to be strongly mathematical at all scales and at all angles and in anyway we can coherently conceive of it....our mathematical models often appear accurate to a stupendous number of decimal places. One can make stupendous predictions and mathematical results often fit our observations very closely indeed......there is no dispute about the strongly mathematical features we observe......short simple equations seem to match reality just fine. F=MA , E=MC'2 , Volts =Current x Resistance.....so much so that if i forget the order i can reverse engineer one equation to get to another
