I read this book by Dr. Agus, this weekend, and it is pretty fundamental for people
in this room. It was Ray twenty years ago or so, I believe who first called to attention "C Reactive Protien"
to his physician at Harvard in order to target the problem of inflammation as
a factor in cardiovascular disease. He recommends asking your physician to measure such.
His recommendations are for the layman, noticing changes in your body, might be
an indicator of a problem internally.
(This has been the substrate of medical practice I gather for now what hundreds of years?)
Anyway, the book is well written, and lays out simple guidelines for maintaining
good health, along with the usual dietary injunction, the author does speak about
a "consistent" wake sleep schedule as a baseline health strategy. And he
articulates in detail scientific studies that show that taking a vitamin pill actually
is a negative factor in health.
His assessment however is contradicted somewhat on the serious necessity to
make sure one gets enough Vitamin D.
