German Military Braces for Scarcity After ‘Peak Oil’
September 11, 2010
A study by the Future Analysis department of the Bundeswehr Transformation Center (a German military think tank) leaked to the Internet warns of the potential for a dire global economic crisis in as little as 15 years as a result of a peak and an irreversible decline in world oil supplies.
The study states that there is “some probability that peak oil will occur around the year 2010 and that the impact on security is expected to be felt 15 to 30 years later….“In the medium term the global economic system and every market-oriented national economy would collapse.”

Pretty much puts the kabosh on Kurzweil’s dreams of a technology-rich future. It’s back to the Stone Age for Homo economicus.

Funkervogt, your post is tendentious, antagonistic and annoying. It does not belong on a forum such as this one. Problems faced by Germany and by the US is identical. Infantile atlantic divisionism and right-wing dualism doesn’t solve any problems. It seriously worsens them. I suggest you google ‘upwing’ politics and start posting solutions to divisive problems. Do you have a solution on how we can address the disastrous energy problems we face? Or would you suggest pouring some scarce gasoline left and right to fan some fires?

…fortunately, the study also found that the Bundeswehr should be able to easily adapt to Peak Oil since it will only have a handful of tanks and jeeps by the time it happens, making converting the “fleet” to run on something other than gasoline extremely easy. Germany’s remaining 400 soldiers will probably be shifted to cultivating biodiesel for the country’s military vehicles. As usual, any actual fighting will be done by the United States at great expense.

I believe the German Army is preparing for energy crisis AND the social unrest connected to it.
