How DARPA Plans to Reinvent U.S. Manufacturing

DARPA is proposing a “foundry-style manufacturing capability” to reinvent manufacturing.
Its new iFAB program will make everything from powered exoskeletons to tanks in a generic fabrication facility. It will soon ask for requests for proposals from private industry.

One the design exists digitally, any foundry could readily steal it and duplicate the process. Including the enemy’s.

Why don’t thy focus on 3D printing? … put some research effort into using it to print large items like tanks.
