MIND COMPUTER INTERFACES ARE ALREADY HERE:

Based on the latest developments in neurotechnology, the Emotiv EPOC is a revolutionary, new personal interface for human computer interaction. emotiv.com

I really want one of these.
I suggested this to Stephen Hawking also, but have received no reply.

By reading three brain waves between 10Hz and 20Hz you can control things with your mind.
Also see: Mindball

A machine that can read your mind, once thought of as science fiction is quickly becoming a reality. It’s called thought identification and according to researchers at Carnegie Mellon University the technology to identify basic thoughts is here. The possible applications for this technology is almost limitless and it is sure to spark debates legal and ethical. Read More: http://ebongeek.com/tag/read-your-mind/

Blindsight (science fiction novel) - Peter Watts
---
"Vision's mostly a lie anyway," he continued. "We don't really see anything except a few hi-res degrees where the eye focuses. Everything else is just peripheral blur, just— light and motion. Motion draws the focus. And your eyes jiggle all the time, did you know that, Keeton? Saccades, they're called. Blurs the image, the movement's way too fast for the brain to integrate so your eye just—shuts down between pauses. It only grabs these isolated freeze-frames, but your brain edits out the blanks and stitches an — an illusion of continuity into your head."
He turned to face me. "And you know what's really amazing? If something only moves during the gaps, your brain just—ignores it. It's invisible."

«Those objects of an external world which have multiple frequencies are observed only
In relation to own frequency of the observer (stroboscopic effect).»

One further admirable aspect in Wenders "Until the end of the world" is his acknowledgement of an increasing tension between the appeal of external exploration, exemplified in the movie by rendition of work done on the ISS spatial platform and the inner (reflective) exploration performed by his heroes ( a bunch of bio tinkerers and hackers) through computational neuroscience.
Ironically the inner quest proves to be more fatal than the spatial environment, but the message is that ultimately the proper balance has to be respected along those two axis of exploration.

Reminds me to share my admiration for Wim Wender's movie
"Until the end of the world"
see http://www.wim-wenders.com/movies/movies_spec/untiltheendoftheworld/untiltheendoftheworld.htm

This is a 1991 movie that in its first part accurately anticipated the internet and through it the emergence of a collective conscience, economic globalization and the rise of India and China, iPad, and even youTube to tell about it (and even not yet available cartoon avatars personifying AGI)

In the second half of the movie, Wenders is describing exactly the kind of research presented here. But quickly Wenders is going beyond the mere science, elaborating on the temptation for the open minded users of a narcissistic diving in oneself through the fascination of replaying one's most intimate dreams and prolonging them in the day.

A kind of addiction we could have to face already in about 5 to 10 years.
This was really a stunning movie, also in the budget (10 years in the making!)

Sounds great now. I don't it will sound so great when combined with, "Culturomics 2.0: Forecasting large-scale human behavior using global news media tone in time and space". Then; pumping stuff back into your head what it needs you to think.

Read my .99cent ebook. It’s 2048 and It Happened at Nextfest.

Could this technology be reversed? Could a computer program implant "movies" into our minds that we then accept as memories of our own life experiences? Kinda like the way memories were created for the humanoid replicant characters in "Blade Runner", including Harrison Ford's character?
