In with the New Scientist: Our predictions for 2011

NewScientist predictions include:

  • Earthlings will surely thrill at finding their planetary double: our calculation suggests the discovery could happen next year.
  • By assuming that the rate of increase in adoption continues to follow a logistic curve, we were able to estimate when adoption would hit 50 per cent (see graph). In a logistic curve, this always corresponds to the inflection point. Our calculation suggests we will reach this in 2013.
  • This could be the year when we quit dragging ourselves to work and send remote-controlled robot avatars instead.
