I think we need to start being much more critical thinking about the technological utopia always gets talked about of imagined in the future. So far my career in IT has clued me into the worst of technology ... and the use Osama bin Laden as some kind of iformation age Peter Drucker is the height of bizarre irony.

It only took a census and some computer punch cards for the Nazis to identity and round up their selected victims and when you take a look at how threats to the political order of today can be faked out and ranked even before they are old enough to know about politics or imagine someone taking an interest in them as a future dissident.

So far as I know all the bits on the internet are still streaming and being recorded in black boxes somewhere by super secret "security" organizations for whatever reasons ... it is way past time to open an adult conversation on this and start to develop some rights and standards around electronic data.

Guillotine? The allusion is completely, cluelessly and ironically misused in this article. Cutting through ... red tape or the Constitution?

Howard Bloom is right on the mark with this article. Their is no doubt that the seeds of the next economic paradigm shift are amongst us already, in our need to play with our technologies, improve what works and reject what doesn't and share information as we see it enhances our lives and the world we live in.
