I remember a VR headset developed by NASA in 1995. At that point in time I let it go- the memory thereof. Now, I believe VR will be the onset of experiencing the cosmos of the labyrinths of the minds perception of reality. Sent this to my 10 and 11 year old grandsons to see when they are able.

I’ve always been a VR enthusiast, but have agreed with John Carmack about the state of VR — no one seems to want to care! (yet)

When we can get to the point where you forget you’re wearing a headset and actually can immerse, it’ll start picking up with the public a bit. When we can map any sensation to the simulation, that’s when it blows up.

John Carmack is the man. He seems to understand before everyone where the advances must be done. In my opinion, virtual reality is the next big revolution, as big as the internet, probably bigger. Not lots of people seems to realize that.
When you can be into the game, just imagine all the things that can be done! Vision is so important for us primates… You become the character.

And coupled with a camera and a computer analyzing the images:
-every book of white paper that you hold could display all the books of the worlds! a 20-page books becomes an encyclopedia
-You want to live in the XVIII century, no problem. The world is implemented onto your world.
-You’re fed up with your dark, gloomy urban environment? You see beaches and coconut trees from your window. Or even your little student room becomes a gigantic hall. Even crowdy locations could be erased from people, as if you were all alone etc,,,
I don’t think it will need an enormous technological leap, but good headset (light and responsive) should be the first step. And John Carmack seems to have undestood that.
