Ray is undoubtedly a very smart man, however wanting to live forever (or indefinitely) may be clouding his intelligence through wishful thinking. I'd love it if his predictions came true and we entered a wonderful new era of human scientific progress but I will only believe it when I see it.

I'm glad to see they're doing some research into Alzheimer’s. Over the past 20 years it seems all you hear about is funding for AIDS research (mainly for political reasons), but Alzheimer’s will ultimately affect far more people, and it's far less avoidable than AIDS as well

"It seems like none of the people making these long-term plans are reading Ray’s books."

Yeah. That, or they're scared that a public acknowledgement of the Singularity will make them ideal candidates for Deep Brain Stimulation.

Damn, just as soon as I posted this comment, the Snorg Tees ad disappeared and was replaced by the Wartune ad. The real girls are more stimulating than the cartoon girl.

It seems like none of the people making these long-term plans are reading Ray's books.

"By 2050, the number of people age 65 and older with Alzheimer’s disease may triple, experts say, from 5.2 million to a projected 11 million to 16 million, unless effective treatments are found."

By then we will be well into the Sing and will all have nanocomputers, not only in the hippocampus, but throughout our bodies. We'll be able to back up the contents of our brains to our household robots as well.

And besides, I don't think that I'll need these deep brain stimulators as long as the models in the Snorg Tees ads have such cute expressions on their faces. Those young ladies are all the stimulation my old brain needs.
