Khan Academy adds computer science courses
August 15, 2012
Khan Academy has added a set of computer science courses to its popular collection of learn-at-home instructional videos. For the project, Khan tapped jQuery creator John Resig, who chose JavaScript as the first language to teach students. The initial set of tutorials cover drawing, programming basics, animation and user interaction.

Do these courses have any legal value ?

Since when is computer science all about learning programming languages? Where are the courses on data structures, algorithms, computer hardware, etc? Khan’s “computer science” curriculum is a joke.

Khan academy doesn’t have a computer science course. Where are the the data structure and algorithm courses. I expected to see a curriculum like the college courses i took and instead it is just some programming courses. Sad.

I think Javascript is the perfect entry point for new programmers today. Most browsers, pc and mobile, have finally come into *reasonable* standards compliance with regard to Javascript and CSS compatibility so that the browser really is like the newest modern operating system. Many applications ranging from games and entertainment applications to endless creative and productivity apps can all run directly out of any browser on any device anywhere.
When I first learned javascript back in the 90′s I had no idea that that crappy, clunky scripting language would eventually become what it is today, which is basically the glue that ties all other technologies together, particularly where the web is concerned, but not confined to it.
Khan Academy is the shiznizzlebang

I don’t know what shiznizzlebang means. Does that make me too old to learn Javascript?
