Researchers from Cornell University have used a standard Microsoft Kinect with open source drivers and PrimeSense Nite middleware and created a program that appears to tell what a user is doing, says I Programmer.

A Kinect (mounted on a roaming robot) was used to monitor activities such as cleaning teeth, cooking, and writing on a whiteboard.

You could use a Kinect to monitor patients, and make sure that they were drinking or eating, etc., or an invasive boss might make sure that workers are working and doing the correct task.
