a computer passing the Turing Test does not prove ts self aware but smarter then humans– animals are self aware but would probable not pass the test.

2029 refers to the year where an AI is likely to have, or have already, passed the Turing Test and be recognized, for all intents and purposes, as a conscious being.

That was a good talk. So Ray has moved up his projection to 2045? He had already predicted 2046 for the Sing. But that’s good news…one less year we have to wait.

*blink…..Um, he’s always said the Sing was 2045, at least since 2005 with his book — I’m not sure where you got 2046 from.
