There is an error in this article. The plane of the classical Foucault pendulum swing is fixed in inertial space and the earth turns under it. See the animation in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foucault_pendulum.

Your comment is confussing… whose “they”, Iran or the US. Furthermore, the microscale gyroscopes are replacing larger scale gyroscopes which cost $1m but also can not be “jammed”. You got one thing right, very cool DARPA, this is the type of Tech that will have huge implications for civillian use once mastered for military use.

Iran won’t be able to jam the GPS on our UAVs when they use these inertial sensors. Way to go, DARPA.
