Rocket entrepreneur Elon Musk believes he can get the cost of a round trip to Mars down to about half a million dollars in about a decade.
The SpaceX CEO says he has finally worked out how to do it, and told the BBC he would reveal further details later this year or early in 2013.

Startups these days are promising the moon. That is a gross underestimation in terms of science and normal practice in terms of PR.

I can see myself getting bored of Mars pretty quickly

This would be very very cheap, considering that the current cost of 1kg cargo to the moon (and even no “live” stuff) is from 50k to 100k U.S.D.
So the direct implication would be that at last space exploitation could start :)
Unfortunately, I’m somewhat skeptical, growing old?

Half a million? What’s the discount if I fly coach?
