These videos are a great example of why Microsoft will not be leading us into the technological future. These videos are called “visions of the future” but really just take the innovations of others and projecting them forward a step or two. Technologies like augmented/enhanced reality, natural language speech translation, multi-touch displays, fluid touch-based interfaces have all been demonstrated. Even the multi-document, multi-surface, multi-touch screens concept appeared in the last James Bond movie. Unfortunately, these videos demonstrate that Microsoft does not have a unique or original vision of the future and demonstrate that they are probably incapable of producing them.
