Mind-X Acceptable Use Agreement

The real-time nature of this forum makes it impossible for KurzweilAI.net to review messages or confirm the validity of information posted herein. Furthermore, KurzweilAI.net does not endeavor to completely curate this resource. We do not necessarily actively monitor the contents of the Mind-X forum for accuracy, sanity, or decency. We try, but the insanity often seeps through.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use the Mind-X forum to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, hateful, harassing, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law. You will not post commercially oriented posts to promote your own commercial interests. You agree not to post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you. You agree not to use this forum in any way to defraud others.

Additionally, you agree to consult and follow the Mind-X General Guidelines in good faith.

We do not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any message, and are not responsible for the contents of any message. The messages express the views of the author of the message, not necessarily the views of the Mind-X forum or any entity associated with the Mind-X forum. Any user who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to email the Mind-X moderator. We have the ability to remove objectionable messages or posters and we will make every effort to do so, within a reasonable time frame, if we determine that removal is necessary. This determination is made in the best judgment of moderators and the site owners according to their best efforts. This is a manual process, however, so please realize that we may not be able to remove or edit particular messages immediately.

The Mind-X forum is not responsible for the content of any of these messages, but we reserve the right to delete any message for any reason whatsoever. You remain solely responsible for the content of your messages, and you agree to indemnify and hold harmless KurzweilAI.net, and its agents and affiliates, with respect to any claim based upon transmission of your message(s).

KurzweilAI.net reserves the right to reproduce, edit, remove, or distribute any post contained in the Mind-X forum. All posts become the property of KurzweilAI.net, except when copyrighted material is posted (and properly cited).

Please note that advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, and solicitations are inappropriate in the Mind-X forum.

Mind-X Guidelines

The Golden Rules
The MindX forum isn't run by rules, per se, but guidelines that the forum moderators follow when moderating MindX discussions. Most of these guidelines are geared towards improving the state of the forum. Some of these guidelines are more prohibitive, however, and they function as rules. The rules come in two-forms: the cardinal, and the compulsory.

Cardinal Rules
1. The Usage Agreement (above) must be respected in full.
2. No trolling. Don't make posts that are inflammatory just to get people riled up. Substance is a key to not being labeled a troll, but substance alone cannot prevent you from being considered a troll. Substance with a dash of personal attack will get you labeled as a troll.
3. Personal attacks are not permitted. Criticize the ideas, not the people. Excessive flaming will not be tolerated. Users who verbally assault the character or person of other posters on a regular basis will be banned. Moderator's judgment applies here. "You are wrong" is not a personal attack; "You wrong because you are an idiot" is.
4. No pornographic, sexually offensive, sexually explicit, or objectifying material. Simple rule. Moderator's judgment applies here. We'd like for our readers to be able to read Mind-X at work and share with friends without fear of retribution.
5. Respect the privacy of others. Do not post other's phone numbers, addresses, pictures, etc., without their express permission.
6. Each forum member may have only one account.
7. Each forum member must maintain e-mail. All users must provide a current, frequently read e-mail address in his/her internal profile. Note that your e-mail address will not be given to any third party advertisers.
8. Do not place foul language in thread subjects.
9. Do not spam. No commercial-oriented posts, and no flooding with useless content, or content designed to engage readers into forum wars or trolling other sites.

Compulsory Rules
1. Keep threads on topics related to emerging trends in technological fields. There are hundreds of open forums on the internet in which you can discuss politics, current events, religion, and a myriad of other topics. KurzweilAI.net built the Mind-X forum in order to discuss emerging technological trends. Note that "emerging technological trends" is an intentionally broad subject, so as to leave plenty of room for discussion.
2. Restrict the use of foul language. Although we don't mind if people occasionally cuss, foul language is likely to get moderated. We also require that you leave rough or offensive language out of the thread subjects. A lot of people read the Mind-X at work. Furthermore, one of the missions of KurzweilAI.net is education, which means we should be aiming for content appropriate for all ages.
