What is Mind·X anyway?

Mind·X is the KurzweilAI.net Mind Exchange. It is an open forum to discuss the issues relevant to the content of KurzweilAI.net.

I forgot my username and/or password.

To retrieve your username and password, you can either have your username and password emailed to you, or email the moderator.

How do I view my profile or other people's profiles?

To view your profile, login then click on your username in bold at the top of the page. To view someone else's profile, click on their username.

How do I edit my profile?

Click on the "Edit Profile" link at the top of the page.

Why was there an error activating my account when I clicked on the link in my email?

The URL used to activate your account is very long, and some email programs will insert a line break into the URL. Make sure the entire URL from the email appears in the address bar of your browser after you click and/or copy and paste the link.

Why are you asking me for my email address?

We require an email address to discourage the creation of bogus accounts. Also, the email address can be used to verify your identity in case you forget your password, or if you choose to be notified of a reply to your post. KurzweilAI.net will never sell your address or send you unsolicited email.

Why does it say that my account was deactivated when I try to log in?

If the moderator of Mind·X notices a pattern of inappropriate posts from a user, the moderator may choose to deactivate the account. If you have any questions or concerns, please email the moderator at mindxmoderator@kurzweilai.net.

Why can't I use HTML in my posts?

We remove HTML from posts to Mind·X and user profiles to prevent cross-site scripting attacks.

Why did my post get deleted?

Periodically, we find it necessary to purge Mind·X of off-topic or otherwise inappropriate content. Mind·X is an open forum, but discussions should focus on content relevant to the accleration of technological progress and technology trends. If a user consistently posts inappropriate content to Mind·X, their account will be deactivated.

What should I do if there is an inappropriate post on Mind·X?

Why are there so many topics started by mindxmoderator@kurzweilai.net?

Every article that gets posted to KurzweilAI.net can be responded to. The first time someone responds to one of these articles, a thread is automatically created in Mind·X. This thread will be visible both within Mind·X and at the bottom of the article it refers to.
