my Vision of the Singularity- first divination then rational prediction:

I see a good chance for a 2012 Eschaton [or around that general time-frame]- if there is anything to that I think it will be a 'Blood Music' type accident that leads to Hard Takeoff [as in planetary mass or local spacetime converted to computronium in seconds by a new evolved/emerged SAI in highly compressed computer time]

the ancient calenders and galactic convergence ideas are just peculiar cultural artifacts- misinterpreted resonances and synchronicities of a Collective Unconscious idea we share in the genetic blueprint of the human neocortex- they are notable and peculiar because they are bad data that have been fitted to someone's intuition of the early 21st century period- they reveal the deeper nature of a time and an event that we can all SEE in our unconscious that we have pulled from all these different cultural traditions and ideas to try and explain why that date seems important- but independent of these Terence McKenna went ALL the way- and before any of these Mayan or bad folk astronomy concepts where first published or thought of he fully explored his own vision mathematically:

at the fundamental level physics is time asymmetric and the nature of ideas like MWI/Relativity/M-Theory should allow sufficiently advance intelligence in our future to observe and influence it's own past- 'time travel' of various types- since time travel is a REAL possibility for advanced civilizations then the idea that the future can influence and be SEEN by those in the past is not 'magical' or strange at all- and as many of us saw in our visions the godlike intelligence beyond the Singularity/Eschaton is likely actually affecting it's own past in order to ensure it's own optimal existence- and visions of 2012 could be the result of information form the past being used to guide the past toward a specific future by beings in that future- so that like the Cosmos itself histories of universes are also like an Ouroboros- and spacetime has an overall loop topology where the future feeds back on the past

I also think we have probably grossly underestimated the implications of computers and quantum computers- what I mean is that if people like Deutsch/Tegmark/Lloyd are right- then our universe is also a quantum computation and quantum computers we build will be able to literally harness the multiverse- literally connect to infinite parallel states of our world that happen to be ALREADY be in a state of 'computronium' so our quantum computers will be able to harness those universes and become true Turing Oracle Machines [no cannibalizing of our universe-state required since there are an infinite number of parallel universes that are already computronium just waiting to be tapped by quantum computers from worlds like ours]- I think it is quite possible that some of the new quantum computer methods we are just now starting to see with qubits maintaining their states for long periods might unexpectedly feedback into the local multiverse and cause some real ontological upheaval as our shared observable state of reality gets sorted and reprogrammed by the multiverse itself- ACCIDENTALLY controlled by our quantum computers- 'Immanentizing the Eschaton' by transforming all the hierarchies of structures built from matter/energy and the quantum vacuum itself into conscious/intelligent/telepathic network processing nodes-

given these considerations and having personally witnessed what looked like a hard-takeoff Singularity of this type about a decade or two into the 21st century in my own visions and similar corroborations from people like Terence McKenna- I am OBLIGED to consider a Dec 2012 'event' to be a real possibility- it is an event that the human brain can generally model and predict [and does so almost automatically when psychedelics are used to 'overclock' it's performance] and I think has been colored in superstitious cultural/religious metaphors by the people who witnessed it in the future



the above Dec 2012 scenario is my divination- if it doesn't happen as I envisage- my more 'realistic' and less eschatological prediction is that by the 2020s we will have direct brain computer interfaces- either pharmaceutical nanotechnology [nano-RFID-like tags embedded in neuroproteins with carbon nanotube antennae mixed into energy drinks you can by at a GNC like tech store at the mall- or something like that] or 4D ultrasound from Japan [using superconducting materials to develop advanced 4D ultrasound capable of molecular level detail to both read and activate/suppress individual neurons]- so that our petabit/petaflop smartphones/iphones will have wireless read/write access to our minds by triggering/suppressing/reading our neurons individually- a 'bluetooth' for your brain-this will mean a Singularity unfolding during the 2020s as humans create and explore more-real-than-real virtual worlds- expand their consciousness and knowledge through direct connection through the internet to databases and other minds- share/edit dreams and memories- copy neural states into the network and thus 'upload' out of the body and back in- or to other bodies/robots- and thus begin a mental diaspora into new species of mind and new worlds- in the 2030s the Virtual and the Actual will be indistinguishable- and mind will be completely plastic and free of the flesh and of any limitations- this will be the manifestation of SAI: brains who have expanded themselves- mind gestalts and direct data bases and digital computation into omniscient super-beings-

the 2020s will herald the return of the Dreamtime- we will be able to be gods of our own virtual universes- live for subjective aeons in just seconds of computer time- duplicate/copy our selves- change ourselves- our bodies- share ourselves- at first it will just be the adolescence of the internet as we replace our screens with minds-eye views and virtual interfaces- but as we start to share memories and edit our thoughts and sensorium- we will experience the full social upheaval of the Singularity- in a very short amount of time after that the new artilects will Immanentize the Eschaton- again by transforming all the hierarchies of structures built from matter/energy and the quantum vacuum itself into conscious/intelligent/telepathic network processing nodes

so in both scenarios the outcome is the same

we need to start thinking more about what all this means and what is NEXT-

what the post-human multiverse will be like? what will it mean to have multiple selves in many places at once? what will relationships be over aeons? how will our resurrected ancestors live and how will later generations live with them? what if all possible humanity from all possible worlds are networked? what if all possible sentient observers are connected into an Omni-network? what about sex and war and money among gods? what sort of societies and possibilities will come from 'uplifted' minds of animals and machines? what will it be like to live in a world where every object and piece of dust is as smart as a god? what will it be like to live in a multiversial internet of networked universes? what are the ontological implications of the equivalence of the Virtual and the Real? what will it be like to have the option to live in worlds with more/less dimensions and different physical laws- how can post-humanity re-sculpt THIS world? what will be the implications of uploading and nano-augmentation of the brain when considering the nature of Psi: what will happen when neural synapses are replaced by qubits that allow an observer to CHOOSE whatever world it exists in from moment to moment? what happens when any mind will have the Akashic record as their memory?

and looking at origins- I am more interested in what is an observer? are all observers destined to eventually become merge with god? are humans [and all animals] more accurately classified as infant gods? what is the nature of consciousness and existence? what universes can exist- and does Will affect the shape of the Multiverse? is there justice? can suffering be alleviated? should it? ultimately are all observers momentarily disconnected fragments of One consciousness?
