"China is planning to hold a robot Olympics in 2010.

The international event will be held in the city of Harbin and will see robots take part in 16 different events.

Robots will be able to compete in familiar Olympic sports such as athletics as well as those more suited to machines such as cleaning.

Entry to the competition will be restricted to robots resembling humans. They must possess two arms and legs. Wheels are banned"

Just for laughs someone should show up in a tin suit with a tin hat and try to compete in the cleaning competition.

I might travel to China sometime in 2010, maybe I'll check it out. Although I'm not sure if I will get up to Harbin.

Thanks for the link and the heads up.

HEY!
This is discriminatory, why can't I compete? Just because I'm "human"?
Racist bastards!

Perhaps, in 2020 or a little later (who knows, maybe earlier) we will be able to upload our minds in robot bodies, and compete in the future, and afterwards, re-upload back to our own bodies (unless we just want to upload copies of ourselves!)..

Oh, the fun we could have!
