was it just me or when Cindy (head of marketing) came in to show off that 2 people could use the system simultaneously the letters she was trying to move around did not actually work…..(she could not grab on to any letters to move them). I guess every demo has its weak spots.

I loved the demo and thought the presenter was amazingly gifted… that being said there is a new language he has created and every chance he had it was explained just out simple and easy and intuitive it is promised to be. Love to see a new person learning on the fly and proving that theory holds true. Of course the presenter after 2 years and after designing it can make it look simple and easy….

…. I was looking at some big databases today for medical info and we were trying to guess how to find user bugs that could creep into any DB. It was almost impossible to dream up all the “what if” cases where errors might be made. It was so much easier to take real Databases and find real errors. Have to wonder if trying to dream up all the what if uses of visualizing data was still struggling to find how it could be more useful than just the presenter’s idea of cool. My gut says once this is actually in the hands of real users with real data…. only then will its use and value show up. I hope then can make it open source enough that users can point them to some better real world examples that prove critical for these visual tools. I sure hope the cool factor can bridge that gap.
