Longnow I like totally identify...not.
I saw something about a metallic belt around the chest
THAT COULD PICK UP WORDS AS EXPRESSED IN THE
BREATHE at the chest level that partially reflected the persons
actual thoughts.

My point in the above reply to eldras might
sound like a rejected PK Dick short story.
Why try to pick up thoughts directly with brain
implants? Just go to the vocal cords and breath
with the use of implants elsewhere...like in teeth?

Good point about reversing the process.
It is being done already I'm sure. If you've seen the latest version
of detection security tech reported recently on Gizmodo. This can
also be reversed. My question is: why bother with implants into
the brain? Why not pick up thoughts from the area where the
vocal cords and the brain stem meet with breathe. Thoughts
picked up from breath? That+tooth implants+SQUID+laser+microwave
tech is already old tech.

One implication of this is that it may be reversible. ie you could cause neural pathways, and have real speed learning as fast as neural growth will allow....I think that's predictable?.

Again, this shows the geek in me. What an invaluable tool for reverse engineering the brain! This is primitive still. Like early sonographs. I'm surprised nobody has brought up its military interrogation capabilities! Goodbye waterboarding! Could always be used for legal veracity. Oh the ethical issues!(actually some really good stew to chew)
