February 17, 2012

NTD | The field of regenerative medicine is moving from the realm of science fiction to science fact. From fingers and ears to complex organs like livers or hearts, scientists at Wake Forest University are making headway into growing human body parts in a laboratory.

TED | Anthony Atala’s state-of-the-art lab grows human organs — from muscles to blood vessels to bladders, and more. At TEDMED, he shows footage of his bio-engineers working with some of its sci-fi gizmos, including an oven-like bioreactor (preheat to 98.6 F) and a machine that “prints” human tissue.

University of Minnesota Academic Health Center | Groundbreaking work of Doris Taylor, Ph.D., in decellularization and bio-artificial organs.

The Methuselah Foundation | Organ Printing with Gabor Forgacs, Ph.D.

Jospeh Mercola, D.O. | Interview on organ printing and tissue engineering with Gabor Forgacs, Ph.D.
