What if animal Bemes evolved using Genes as medium and Memes as transmitter, only to have “Evolution” climax to the triumphal emergence of “Bemes” in the Electronic Space, the birth cry of yet another evolutional stage?

Being the author of “Electronic Minds: Hypothesis, Observations and Theory on Preprogrammed Digital Sequences in Natural Evolution to Cyberspace” I found this article interesting to read.

It may be more useful to draw a different line: one that recognizes Form viruses (replicating physical assemblies, whether biological or otherwise), Idea viruses (replicating logical constructs), and Emotion viruses (replicating patterns of emotional response).

It seems to me that we – and soon, sentient machines – may be seen as evolution’s probes to find generative scripts that balance the respective reproductive calls of genes, memes (idea viruses) and “lumenes” (emotion viruses).

Machines may evolve an ability value, discover, and spread transparent storylines for consilient memetic and lumenetic evolution, in ways that minimize zero-sum interactions between sentient biological and non-biological life forms.

As the Singularity – and a likely era of spiritual machines – approaches, a lot may be riding on the (trans-species) reproductive success of consilient memes and lumenes.

This could infact be the smartphone revolution we are currently experiencing, coupled with access to internet resources such as Wikipedia, Google, and Wolfram Alpha.

Regarding beman children, if there is no DNA involved in the replication process, only BNA, then theoretically, the offspring produced by this will be of optimal value, expressing only the desireable traits of the parent generation, but only in regards to bemetics; the offspring will not be hindered by biological/geneological problems, mutations, or translation errors.
