Polaroid’s new digital instant camera
November 9, 2011

Polaroid has announced the Z340, a 14-megapixel digital version of its classic Polaroid Land Camera introduced in 1948.
Priced at $299.99, the z340 uses ZINK (zero ink) Paper to deliver a 3×4” print — the same size as the classic Polaroid photos. ZINK Paper is an advanced composite material with cyan, yellow, and magenta dye crystals embedded inside. The camera uses heat to activate and colorize these crystals. A 2.7” color LCD allows for viewing images before printing.

Wow. I’ll be amazed if this seemingly crazy concept turns a profit.

In the photography world Polaroids have a devoted following. I’m wondering if that will translate to this new digital version?

If there is a way–via USB–to link to a computer, there may be an audience for this camera.

I can’t imagine this will be flying off the shelves.
