PopFab — 3D printer fits inside a briefcase (Intro)
August 4, 2012
PopFab is a 3D printer that fits inside a briefcase. At its heart is a computer-controlled motion platform and a means of attaching various toolheads. These enable PopFab to make objects from a digital plan in a variety of ways: current capabilities include 3D printing, milling, vinyl cutting, and drawing — with more on the way. PopFab has traveled the world as a carry-on item of luggage.

I can see how portable 3D printers will be popular in the future, if they are able to print things really fast.
Plumbers, electricians, carpenters and other people who repair things in peoples home could just bring a 3D-printer with them and if they need some special part or tool they could just browse an online catalogue and print it out right there.
