Ultimately this type reasearch illustrates my concerns with a national health care system. Mandating everyone to get healthcare forces us into a system that is based on existing profitability. We end up in the clutches of the insurance companies and specific medical delivery systems. They can become entrenched and protective of their profit margin structures. I would like government to take a more active role in the adoption of new and breakthrough technologies. If it's role was more focused on implementing more efficiency and less on mandating, the cost could come down dramatically, and more people would receive better health care, because they could afford it.
