Ouch. ... I'm out of here ... planning to upload/migrate to Alpha Centauri Dyson Sphere via the next soup-can starship leaving MarsPort this morning.

... Yes, and now you owe a few billion singdollars in asteroid rental space... and the asteroid bounty hunters are on their way from the L5 colony. Since you're wanted on Terra, I'd advise re-uploading to Luna asap, dude.

Hey, I was just trying out the recommendations of our old mentors back at Singularity U in the 20teens': e.g., Peter Diamandis, who claimed "abundance" was to be found in some of those asteroids out there ... and after hiding out for all those years in the core, my bandwidth bills were increasing exponentially. I didn't know some corporation owned that asteroid or that people and bots were living there ... My bad, .. but still just an "honest" mistake!

Oh, my ..... Well, uh ... could be that that Muse was not the one we should be listening to right now. ... but hey, maybe just a few miles closer to Mars, not clear out to the asteroids .... hope it was not the AGI's (from the 2050's Singularity) who found me out in the history of the calamity ... snugly uploaded in some safe core somewhere ...

Just musing here a moment -- ge-engineering, hummm. There is another article in this issue about NASA considering moving an asteriod into high lunar orbit. Everyone is probably familiar with techniques proposed to use a small mass placed in just the right place to shift the trajectory of Near Earth objects. You have the Earth with the Moon orbiting, along with other significant objects like Jupiter. Might it be possible to move the Earth? Outward a bit away from the Sun? Even a tiny amount each year, over a period of, say, 100 years? How much, I wonder would the Earth's orbit need to be changed to compensate for climate warming? Seems like a back of envelope calculation ... but I seem to be "paperless" right now. :-}

Heat itself is a form of energy ... you can't "get rid" of it so to speak but you can "move it around" - e.g., air conditioning or steam engines. You can reflect it away. But the best thing is to convert it into a storable and reusable form - i.e., chemical energy, electricity, directed motion, even data, etc. Doing all/any of that on a "grand scale" is more trickly and problematic - e.g., geo-engineering.

How can we get rid of heat on a grand scale? Everywhere we put it on earth (ocean, atmosphere, etc.) seems to make problems. Can we radiate it out into the night sky or is there a useful endothermic reaction available?
