Can’t stop it. It’s already done. The inertia is emense. It’s a natural change. Like a whirling dervish, or like an ice skater spinning and pulling their arms in . I like that view best, cause it looks prettier, more human, but it’s a tornado, or hurricane. It doesn’t have to be bad if you understand the forces at play, an plan for the outcome. Afterwards the sun always shines bright and strong. During the storm, there will be panic, kaos..but it is a natural cycle.thinking of it as a singularity is good. Look at the movie Twister, about tornado chasers. In the film they show actual Doppler radar of a twister. If you freeze frame at that image you will see a perfect Yin andYang symbol. The cycle of technological transformation is only gaining in momentum, and a birth is about to take place. We will be like single neurons in a vast new life force. All communications, especially the Internet is it’s nervous system. It will control the flow of energy, or power, or finance to achieve our shared goals. Right now our financial system is full of inefficiencies. Greed and corruption waste precious resources. With full transparent overview all that waste will more than take care of all of us. There is tremendous abundance around us. It just needs a new paradigm shift. That can easily be achieved with proper discussion. Think of it like writing code. An idea can take hold, and becomes real if enough people believe in it. Sone there will be little choice else. Pen is mightier than the sword. The power of ideas are like thoughts or dreams in the brain of humanity. Little bits of code.

You and Bri are both right on. The government, within the next 5-10 years, will be forced to support over 50% of the population because of the jobs eliminated by the exponential march of technology. Humans will be too error prone, unreliable and expensive to support when compared to an autonomous driven car, truck, or high performance jet fighter 5 to 10 years from now. Telemedicine and legal database interfaces with improved IBM Watson computers will reduce the need for physicians and lawyers. It’s already happening. Check out legal zoom.com. Do your own will, corporation, partnership, etc. One doctor will be able to diagnose patients without leaving his/her computer terminal. Google a photo of any modern automobile manufacturing plant and count the number of humans at work now compared to 30 years ago.
No politician wants to deal with this problem. And, the trend cannot be stopped-unless we ban the effects of Moore’s law.

You’re right, Bri. By the time Pfizer has a pill to cure Alzheimer’s, we will all be out of work. Then they will have to give medicare to everybody, not just Social Security recipients. You’ve heard me say this before, Bri, but I’m going to repeat myself. They have to start collecting the tax to pay unemployment benefits from the AI robots that put people out of work. Society will collapse if unemployment benefits only last 26 weeks when the robust AI get here. You’ll have to collect unemployment benefits until age 65. And then the robots will have to pay Social Security taxes too.

What does he mean to do, by changing current patent law. If my body intrinsically utilizes a chemical pathway, how can it be just, and far, for company to extort money from me to fix it, if it’s broken. Our monetary system is going to collapse soon. When robust AI is projecting through robotic platforms, we simply won’t be able to compete. It’s no linter an even playing field(not that it ever was even). The robots/AI will take all bus driver jobs away. Every taxi every deliveryman, every secretary, every doctor, lawyer. The home healthcare aid for the elderly will take every house keeper’s job, visiting nurse’s, landscaper, barber, school teacher, music teacher, everything! It’s a very versatile platform. All it needs is a down load! The replicators will take every factory job. All of manufacturing, gone! Most things will be made of carbon. It’s taking the place of platinum in feul cells! A rare earth metal, replaced, by emergent properties of the juxtaposition of common elements! This “Government” official is clueless to the effects of what he is proposing! He thinks he’s creating jobs. I’m no luditte. I embrace these coming changes. I see solutions, but few people are talking about it! This is a wondrous time to be alive! Incredible, stupendous, unimaginable, things are happening! But rest assured, our society is being roped to shreds. Like the mitosis of a cell. Everything is changing. As Ray says. We are just about to hit the knee of the curve. To use the jargon from his movie. The jumping Jesus cycles will soon be happening at a rate we can’t follow any more. You simply won’t be able to take information in, at a rate fast enough to follow what AI is doing! God help all the people who will be hurt as this happens! Just a bunch of ostriches with their heads in the sand! Sorry if I rant. I feel like it’s the emperors new clothes. Such fine material sire. Should keep you warm! They are presenting nothing at all!
