Maybe a crowd of bright teenagers, inspired by the movie, could have focused their careers to science and technology. If, as Marvin Minsky believes, the idea of the Singularity can channel human and material resources and produce extraordinary results similar those of World War II, it is inconceivable to lose two years. Imagine two years of truce granted to Hitler in the midst of war... In general, I'm a big fan of the book "Singularity is Near". Had the contrary been the case, Ray's underlying thesis would be on very shaky ground. I remember seeing the website banners, coming 2009, 2010, now 2011... even if the film is released 20mins from now, the technical data is probably outdated... Film is almost 2 years old... Remember what Ray says about computing power.... I think they are going to have to re-film this bad boy and release this original on youtube.... Ray should just charge a viewing fee on his site...
