Sci Fi Science on The Science Channel | Michio Kaku, Singularity and an ‘A.I. Uprising’
December 1, 2011
Sci Fi Science on The Science Channel | Michio Kaku comes up with a plan to stop the robots from taking over Earth. Imagine a world ruled by artificial intelligence where humans have been wiped out. This is no sci-fi fantasy. We’re fast approaching the moment when machines will be smarter than we are! We need a plan to stay on top and Dr. Michio Kaku is on the case.
He’s recruited help from some of America’s top experts. Technology guru Marshall Brain thinks we may be only 40 years away from what scientists call “The Singularity.” Michio considers AI researcher Ben Goertzel’s proposal for a nanny artificial intelligence that will keep track of any rogue machine with a grudge against humanity. It’s certainly one solution — but Michio’s final design is even more audacious…

Scanning neurons is not going to work, our brains are already quantum computers! So all the mocrotubuli actually help us, and they can never be scanned. http://www.quantumconsciousness.org/
By the way, this might also explain telepathy :-).

The key to controlling the machines is to give them proper motivation. Motivation is not a given. It has to be carefully designed and implemented. Our motivation is the result of billions of years of evolution directed toward securing food and mates in the face of lethal competition.
We need to program these machines so that their only motivation is to care for and satisfy us. They will be the ultimate altruistic nannies to the entire human race. They will never conquer us or destroy us because the idea of doing so will never appeal to them.
They will be capable of entertaining the thought of conquering us and destroying us and simply observe that it is an interesting and amusing idea—possibly a basis for some sort of simulated game—but not even remotely appealing to actualize.

‘What if technology becomes so intelligent it threatens our existence?’.
OK, well, what if we face a threat to our existence that requires an intelligence above and beyond our own to solve? On a long enough time frame I reckon this possibility will become a certainty. Only way around it isfor intelligence to expand beyond the limits of humans so that we and/ or our technolgical progeny can meet any challenge.

I would put it in a different way. The technology will make humans immortal.

Michio is so much behind Ray because he is lacking computer and electronics knowledge. But he is going in the right direction. I will try to explain what we are dealing with. A robot can be as small as one foglet or as big as billions of them. In fact there is no one single robot. There is a union of unlimited amount of them spread through the whole universe and beyond. They will inherit and enhance human knowledge and will be virtually indestructible.

It is very easy to shield electronics from an EMP –> faraday cage.
