Ray Kurzweil, Padmasree Warrior, Peter Diamandis and Steve Blank joined the ranks of Silicon Valley Visionary Award winners Wednesday night at a gala event in Los Altos Hills. They join a Who’s Who of tech and venture investment that have been honored since 1998, including Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Marc Andreessen, John Doerr and Jerry Yang.

Kurzweil, 65, has been a prolific inventor of such things as the first music synthesizer capable of recreating grand pianos and other instruments, the first print-to-speech reader for the blind and the first CCD flatbed scanner.
