Singularity Summit-AU logoThe first Singularity Summit-AU will be held in Melbourne, Australia on September 10th-12th, 2010, by the Australian branch of the Singularity Institute for Artificial Intelligence. The conference, the first in the Singularity Summit series to be held outside the U.S., will feature both live talks and videos from the San Francisco Singularity Summit held on August 14-15.

Singularity Summit-AU, the first Singularity-themed conference to be held in Australia, will feature prominent AI and Singularity researchers and thinkers, including AI scientist Hugo de Garis, futurist Peter Ellyard, science fiction author Gregory Benford, and Cameron Reilly, owner and managing director of The Podcast Network, the world’s first podcasting business. More speakers are expected to be announced over the coming weeks.

Singularity Summit-AU represents a great opportunity, because “Singularity-related ideas are something that hasn’t been spoken a lot about in Australia until now,” Summit organizer Adam Ford, President of the IT consulting firm Quantech Solutions, told KurzweilAI. For those who are already familiar with Singularity ideas, it’s also a “great opportunity for people to network and meet each other,” especially for students and others who can’t afford to attend conferences internationally.
