This sounds like a species-specific adaptation to a particular set of environmental conditions. Don't look for direct human similarities, but potential signals we might have adapted to with our own evolutionary history. Or simply focus on the response mechanisms and forget about the environmental triggers.

I believe you'll find that human's don't have the same link between environment and growth schedules for humans in cold climates to live longer.

Though a colder climate does reduce the need for oxygen, increasing your odds of surviving from oxygen-depriving conditions like heart attacks.

I think we're still up against highly complex bio stuff, needing supercomputing to simulate and intervene in it.

Why dont people from cold climates live longest?

This is interesting. I have always wondered why the few guys in my class who started shaving in the 7th grade looked so much older than most of my chronological peers later in life. Those guys were also bigger and stronger than most of us until well into high school. I realize this is anecdotal, but many of the women in my class who were not fully developed by high school graduation, were often very attractive at the 5 and 10 year reunions. Many of the high school beauties had aged at what appeared to be a faster rate than the late bloomers.
