@Mystery Man

Aubrey de Grey uses an example of a 50 year old VW bug in perfect working order and with no rust. As long as you can get the parts for it or have them made, you can keep your car going for as long as you want.

Mystery Man, comparing a car to a human body is a poor analogy.

What you have to look at is what each system is capable of. A rusty car will never unrust itself, but cut your arm and you'll see new skin there - the cut doesn't remain. Older people don't heal as quickly - but they still heal, so aging hasn't completely compromised the sophistication of the system, it has merely decreased its effectiveness.

In any case, we already have proof that you can reverse aging in mice, but the techniques are not yet perfect. This points optimistically towards the idea that the system really can be restored, we just have an incomplete map of aging in human bodies.

It will happen, the only question is when. This is simply an engineering problem, nothing magical.

eventually that old car gets so rusty no amount of tune-ups or part replacements will work. Can you slow down rust, decay, entropy? Yes. Can you un-rust a car into the original steel? Can you slow down aging? Probably... can you reverse it? I doubt it.

A quite strange article... Or one needing more information (I speak about the original paper from DeGregori, not the article from KurzweilAI).
I've searched for the orginal paper ("published today" in Oncogene journal), but apparently, it's not published yet in fact.
