Twitter is a surprisingly interconnected network and an effective way to filter quality information, thanks to retweeting, concludes an analysis by the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology of the entire downloaded contents of Twitter for July 2009.

“Individual users have the power to dictate which information is important and should spread by the form of a retweet … In a way we are witnessing the emergence of collective intelligence,” according to Kwak et al.
