The short film Sunspring is an experimental science fiction story — written by an artificial intelligence software application.

The film-maker Oscar Sharp asked his technologist collaborator Ross Goodwin to build a computer software that could automatically write screenplays, by itself. They created the application and named it Jetson — then filled it with 100s of science fiction television + movie scripts. The film-makers built a team including actor Thomas Middleditch — star of the hit show Silicon Valley. They allowed the team 48 hours to film and edit whatever Jetson decided to write.
