Event is sold out — sign-up to receive an email reminder to watch the live webcast of quantum mechanics and spacetime in the 21st century.

Prepare to be amazed. Nima Arkani-Hamed is one of the world’s most innovative scientists, with an infectious enthusiasm for decoding the mysteries of the universe. Renowned for his dynamic and accessible speaking style, Arkani-Hamed is among the most sought-after experts on topics including dark matter, extra dimensions, particle colliders, and the interconnectedness of them all. During this free public talk and live webcast, Arkani-Hamed will explore how recent research into quantum mechanics (nature’s most fundamental forces and phenomena) promises to shed new light on our understanding of the universe’s fabric of time and space. Find out why he recently said: “I haven’t been this excited about physics in a very long time.”

One of the leading particle physics phenomenologists of his generation, Nima Arkani-Hamed is concerned with the relation between theory and experiment. Based at Princeton’s Institute for Advanced Study, and a Distinguished Visiting Research Chair at Perimeter Institute, Arkani-Hamed has shown how the extreme weakness of gravity, relative to other forces of nature, might be explained by the existence of extra dimensions of space. He has proposed how the structure of comparatively low-energy physics is constrained within the context of string theory, and taken a lead in proposing new physical theories that can be tested at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN in Switzerland. He won the prestigious Fundamental Physics Prize in 2012, and is featured prominently in the critically acclaimed documentary Particle Fever, about the search for the Higgs boson.

General information

Attendance to the lecture is free, but advance tickets are required. Due to the overwhelming response to past lectures, tickets will be honoured until 6:45 pm only. If you have not arrived by 6:45 pm your reservation may be filled by guests in our waiting line, and you may be asked to join the end of the waiting line.

PLEASE NOTE: Tickets are available online starting at 9:00 am on the specified date and sell out very quickly. Due to the high volume of traffic to our website at the moment when free tickets become available, you may have difficulty accessing the site on your first attempt. Please continue to try to log in, as this is still the best way to obtain tickets. Due to the demand for tickets to our lectures, a maximum of two (2) tickets may be ordered per account.
