Oakley | Airwave goggles
November 7, 2012

The $600 Oakley Airwave snow goggles feature a small corner display that lets you see how fast you’re going, where your friends are on the mountain, vertical feet attained, maps, incoming calls/text messages, and music playlist. The Airwave app for Android or iOS lets you control your phone and playlist through the Airwave’s wrist controller. The display is perceived to be the size of a 14-inch screen viewed from a distance of 5 feet.

Cool idea… Love it. Hope they bring the price down as $600 seems crazy…especially when a cooler set of goggles (Oculus Rift) is half that price and does so much more technology. Display layout seems bland… I thought they could add some better use of color (especially after outside looks so bright and cool). http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1523379957/oculus-rift-step-into-the-game?ref=live

Yes, the price seems excessive compared to its limited functionality. Another issue is the risk of being distracted (instant message, music, etc.) while skiing (or with other activities).
