Tissue-based logic circuits could interface with neurons

March 31, 2011

Researchers at the Charotar University of Science & Technology (CHARUSAT), India, have simulated a memristor (a resistor with memory) using a test tube filled with human blood maintained at 37 degrees Celsius into which two electrodes were inserted. They are also developing diodes and capacitors using human tissues.

The team ultimately hopes to create biological logic circuits that interface with neurons, using microchannels (extremely small conductive glass capillaries).
