A computer generated concept of exotic fabric in motion from Foam Studio.
This is a different kind of project. What looks at first like an eccentric tangle of simulated dance and color — turns out to be a study of hand-crafted algorithmic textiles and procedural surfaces — for what we call exquisite realities.

Take a look at Foam Studio’s computer graphics demos featuring their work for IBM’s campaign. They add a new dimension to abstract and organic visuals — with extreme, exotic, high-texture surfaces that move with unexpected fluidity.
The future of game-play, interactive, and virtual + augmented reality is trending toward these kinds of richer, denser surfaces that add depth + mystery.
The physics of both possible + impossible futures.
One value of artificial reality is its ability to let us experience physicality that doesn’t actually exist — and to see state-changes that are invisible to the naked eye. Like extreme slow or fast motion, magnetism — and impossible materials that twist, grow, crystallize, and decay. And other-worldly sounds that naturally emerge from surreal objects. What’s special about Foam Studio’s technique is its almost-but-not-quite realism.
Making artificial intelligence relatable.
Foam Studio is a spin-off of the design + production studio Zeitguised — creators of acclaimed work for clients like Absolut, IBM, Mercedes-Benz, Nike, and Samsung.
The studio recently created a concept series of autonomous vehicles called Spaces on Wheels with Ikea. And launched an award-winning art film called Auto Nom — a clever and light-hearted take on the future of artificial intelligence. Both stories included below in selected reading.

— summary —
Auto Nom is a new art film that offers an upbeat alternative to the doom + gloom that we often associate with autonomous mobility and artificial intelligence. By Zeitguised’s spin-off Foam Studio — and part of a series of character animation narratives based on the personality of “autonomous Rolf” — a fictitious self-driving classic German car that gets under your hood with its freedom-loving behavior.
